TANKERS Med. market remains firm, with very good trading opportunities, mainly out of Black Sea. – Modern Aframaxes in this particular area are being fixed at W/S 207.5-215, while other loading areas are paying W/S 185. – Cont. market stable, with 80,000-ton cargoes being fixed at W/S 160 due to the flow of new cargoes out of the Baltic Sea. – Caribs also stable, with latest fixtures for 70,000-ton cargo liftings at around W/S 250. – Suezmaxes in the Med. at W/S 175-190 for 135,000-ton cargoes, while 130,000-ton cargoes out of W. Africa still at W/S 135. – In the Med., Conoco has fixed M/T «Regent» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading June 15 Syria, discharging US Gulf at W/S 175. – In the Cont., Emerald has fixed M/T «Gotland Spirit» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading June 12, discharging US Gulf at W/S 170. – In Caribs, Hunt has fixed M/T «Clyde Spirit» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading June 20 East Coast, Mexico, discharging US Gulf at W/S 245. – In W. Africa, Exxonmobil for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading June 28, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Tromso Fidelity» at W/S 134. DRY CARGO A slow start for Capers, while sentiment remains strong. A number of reported fixtures are involved at high numbers. Bocimar has fixed M/V «Great Lady,» 175,075 dwt, built 1992, delivery June 16-17 UK, trip via Brazil, redelivery Japan at USD 35,000 daily. – In the East, Cargill has fixed M/V «Cape Jupiter,» 171,700 dwt, built 1997, delivery China trip via S. Africa, redelivery UKC at USD 27,000 daily. – Panamax rates have dropped significantly for Atlantic traders but the lower levels have attracted some charterers with several of the early ships now being fixed. Cargill has fixed M/V «Marie Christina,» 74,410 dwt, built 2001, delivery France June 7-9 for a S. America round-trip voyage at USD 14,500 daily. – In the East, only very few vessels remain. Spot Lino has fixed M/V «Sprint Fortune,» 74,093 dwt, built 1999, delivery /redelivery Japan trip via Australia at USD 15,900 daily. – Handies/Handymaxes with more inquiry out of S. America. – Fayette has fixed M/V «Brother Glory,» 46,211 dwt, built 1998, delivery Turkey June 17-20, redelivery Far East at USD 16,250 daily.
