Greece reduces state arrears by 1.5 billion euros between December and March

The government paid 1.5 billion euros of state arrears between December and the end of March, Alternate Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Monday.

Staikouras said that instructions for the payment of another 1.7 billion euros had already been given.

He said that delays in releasing the money to firms and individuals were gradually being overcome.

The government began reducing its arrears in December after agreeing its latest bailout with the troika. He said 730 million euros were paid between December and February and another 790 million in March alone
