Fish-farming tie-up to create world’s biggest sea bream producer
The agreed absorption of Selonda by listed Dias Aquaculture could lead to the creation of the world’s biggest farm for sea bream and sea bass.
The terms for the merger of the two companies were agreed late on Thursday and recorded in a memorandum of understanding that was signed by both parties.
Dias will continue to exist as a company after absorbing Selonda, but will take the latter’s name, as the firm stated in a bourse filing on Friday.
Kathimerini understands that this is not the only merger that is under wraps in the sector, though, as sources say that the other major company in Greek fish farming, listed firm Nireus, is in advanced talks with foreign investors regarding a strategic cooperation.
