Greek credit crunch seen easing next year
Faced by a serious situation with nonperforming loans, Greek banks are not expected to relax lending rules next year, according to bank officials.
In the best-case scenario they will disburse only around 5 billion euros to businesses and households, when the private economy’s liquidity deficit is estimated at more than 35 billion.
But the credit contraction is expected to ease from about 4.5 percent this year to 3 percent in 2014.
Loans to households are estimated to have totaled up to 1.5 billion euros this year.
