Bourse index clears 920 points as turnover perks up

Greek stocks registered across-the-board gains on Tuesday with the main index clearing the 920-point level after about 10 days and the daily turnover reverting to a slightly more satisfactory level.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 920.46 points, adding 2.37 percent to Monday’s 899.19 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index expanded by 2.11 percent to end at 315.43 points, although small-caps only managed marginal gains of 0.27 percent.

Terna Energy outperformed, adding 6.79 percent, followed by Corinth Pipeworks (up 5.70 percent) and Mytilineos (5.25 percent). The only blue chips to head south were Eurobank Properties (down 1.23 percent) and Frigoglass (1.06 percent).

In total 66 stocks posted gains, 53 suffered losses and 17 stayed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 42.5 million euros, up from Monday’s 31 million.
