Marriott International to end contract for Ledra hotel

Marriott International, one of the world’s leading lodging and hospitality companies, confirmed on Friday it will stop operating its Ledra hotel in Athens, although it maintains an interest in the capital’s hotel market.

A statement on the company’s website said that as of December 31st, the landmark hotel on Syngrou Avenue near Athens city center, will no longer operate as a Marriott. Apparently the existing contract with owner Paraskevaidis group is expiring and will not be renewed.

Athens Ledra Marriott was always operated by Marriott International since it opened some 30 years ago.

Sources have told Kathimerini that the owner will now seek a new company to operate it, while Marriott is said to be weighing other options in Athens.
