Sackings outpace hirings by 17,214 in November

There were 17,214 more sackings than hirings in November, according to the Labor Ministry’s Ergani system, on which companies register job movement.

The majority of new positions created last month were part time or job rotation schemes, according to Ergani.

Labor Minister Yiannis Vroutsis said that the seasonal nature of the employment should be taken into account and that job losses for October and November this year were at their lowest since 2008.

He also stressed that between January and November, 113,489 more positions had been created than had been lost.
