Ellaktor lands major project in Romania

Athens-listed construction company Ellaktor announced on Friday that its subsidiary Aktor Concessions and its consortium partners have won the tender for a major project in Romania that will have an estimated budget of 4 billion euros.

The project concerns the study, construction, funding, operation, maintenance and utilization of the Comarnic-Brasov section of the A3 Bucharest-Brasov highway. The duration of the concession contract is 29 years. This is a project for the construction of three major junctions, 39 lesser works and three twin tunnels totaling 19.4 kilometers. The total stretch of the highway to be constructed is 54 kilometers.

The consortium, selected by the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, consists of Aktor Concessions SA (25 percent), Vinci Concessions SAS (37.5 percent) and Strabag AG (37.5 percent). The consortium will in turn commission a construction consortium in which Aktor Construction SA has a 33 percent stake and is partnered by Vinci Construction Grands Projets, Vinci Construction Terrassement, and Strabag.

The A3 highway, which crosses the Carpathian Mountains, is the Romanian heartland and Transylvania’s main connection with Hungary and Western Europe.
