Damage from fire at dairy factory on Christmas Eve estimated at over 18 mln euros

The damage caused from a large fire at a dairy factory in Serres, northern Greece, on December 24, has been estimated at 18.75 million euros, the firm, Kri-Kri, announced on Tuesday in a filing at the Athens Exchange.

According to the announcement, the facility and its content were fully insured and the damages are not expected to affect the dairy producer’s performance.

The fire destroyed some two-thirds of the Serres facility before firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control. No one was injured.

Kri-Kri’s management added that it is already proceeding with the construction of a new facility at the site and expects production to get fully under way within the year.

Until construction is completed, Kri-Kri will be using the production facilities of other companies around Greece to ensure smooth output, it said.
