Slide continues in Athens bourse

The decline continued on Tuesday at the Greek bourse as investors found no reason for stock selling to stop given the increasing political risk and the problems in Turkey that had a major impact on National Bank due to its subsidiary, Finansbank.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,136.97 points, contracting 1.94 percent from Monday’s 1,159.43 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 declined by 1.70 percent to 374.33 points.

National dropped by 5.23 percent and Public Power Corporation by 5.05 percent, while EYDAP grew by 4.11 percent and Coca Cola HBC rose by 1.81 percent.

In total 39 stocks posted gains, 102 registered losses and 17 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 79.6 million euros, up from Monday’s 68 million.
