Salaried employment was on the rise in January as hirings outbalanced firings by 6,397 positions, according to a report released by the Labor Ministry on Wednesday. The data pointed to a reversal from the figures recorded in January last year when firings had outnumbered hirings by 17,507 jobs.

The figures, compiled by the ministry’s Ergani database, showed that hiring announcements came to 95,450 against 89,053 dismissals, compared to 53,515 hirings and 71,022 dismissals that were recorded over the same period last year.
