Subdued stock market posts weekly losses of over 2 pct

The ATHEX benchmark was virtually unchanged at the end of Friday’s bourse session as the action remained subdued for yet another day. On a weekly basis the main index gave up 2.38 percent.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,249.96 points, just 0.02 percent off Thursday’s 1,250.25 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 edged 0.10 percent lower to 406.51 points and the small-cap index rose 0.90 percent.

Piraeus Port Authority outperformed with a 5.26 percent increase, ahead of Eurobank Properties (up 3.02 percent) and Folli Follie (2.39 percent). Marfin Investment Group declined by 3.30 percent and Ellaktor fell 1.98 percent.

In total 67 stocks recorded gains, 59 registered losses and 29 stayed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 55.1 million euros, up from Thursday’s 42.8 million. On an weekly basis it posted an average 17.8 percent drop.
