Payout from 2013 primary surplus to begin this week

Some 265,000 people who have applied to receive a 500-euro share each of Greece’s 2013 primary surplus, the so-called social dividend, are to receive their money this week.

The Finance Ministry indicated that those who applied for the handouts by April 30 would be in the first wave of recipients, along with 75,000 members of the armed forces and emergency services.

The deadline for all applications is June 30, with the total amount to be handed out reaching 450 million euros.
