Greece is still a bargain destination

Greece has been found to be the month of May’s fourth cheapest destination in Europe in terms of hotel accommodation by online hotel rate comparison engine Trivago. This is despite the 14.1 percent yearly increase in the price of an average double room in Greece, from 78 euros in May 2013 to 89 euros per night this month.

The only countries that are cheaper than Greece in this sense are Bulgaria (54 euros), Romania (66 euros) and Poland (69 euros).

The increase recorded for Athens hotels is even higher, as the average price per overnight stay has soared 26 percent year-on-year to 106 euros. However Athens still has an average rate that is 30 percent below the European average, Trivago data showed.
