Construction material costs for new residential buildings decrease

The material costs index in the construction of new residential buildings decreased by 2.9 percent in August 2014, compared to the same month the previous year, according to figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority, ELSTAT, on Tuesday.

The index in August 2013 had recorded a decrease of 1.8 percent compared to August 2012.

The report showed that the material costs index in August 2014 compared to July 2014 was down 0.1 percent. The index also recorded a decrease of 0.1 percent between August 2013 and July 2013.

The ELSTAT report pointed to the 12-month average index from September 2013 to August 2014 decreasing by 2.5 percent compared to the same index of the September 2012-August 2013 period.
