Greek bourse chalks up five days of gains

The Athens stock market posted gains on Thursday, in line with most of its international peers and stretching its rising streak to five sessions on slightly improved turnover.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 962.31 points, adding 0.48 percent to Wednesday’s 957.70 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index expanded 0.22 percent to 312.93 points, but mid-caps added 1.51 percent.

Motor Oil outperformed with gains of 6.07 percent, ahead of Piraeus Port Authority’s 4.03 percent advance, while Grivalia Properties gave up 2.59 percent and Eurobank lost 1.82 percent.

In total 73 stocks moved up, 36 came down and 15 stayed put.

Turnover came to 71.6 million euros, up from Wednesday’s 56.9 million.
