Mavraganis to assume tax duties from Hardouvelis

Responsibilities for tax-related affairs are to be transferred from Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis to Deputy Finance Minister Giorgos Mavraganis, according to a decision by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, and Hardouvelis, which was published in the Government Gazette.

The news came just a few days after the government was forced to go back on a pledge to extend a debt repayment scheme following troika reservations. But the ministry said the transfer of duties had been planned.

Henceforth, Mavraganis will be responsible for tax policy, overseeing the General Secretary for Public Revenues, the General Secretariat for Information Systems, the Special Secretariat of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) and other services.
