Industrial turnover posts 1.8 pct annual rise in September

The turnover of Greek industry climbed 1.8 percent in September compared to a year earlier thanks to an increase in sales both in the domestic and foreign markets.

This has contained annual losses in the 12 months from October 2013 to September 2014 to 3.6 percent, Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) figures showed on Wednesday.

The growth recorded mainly comes as a result of an increase in mining sector sales, which rose 2 percent, and a rise in manufacturing companies’ turnover, which came to 1.8 percent on an annual basis.

The local market accounted for a 1.8 percent rise and overseas markets for a 1.5 percent increase overall.
