Carlsberg to use Greece as regional junction

Danish brewing group Carlsberg is planning to transfer part of its non-Greek production to Greece, as well as to transform this country into a junction for the production and exporting of products of the company to the Eastern Mediterranean.

These are two of the most important growth prospects behind the merger of Mythos Brewery, the Greek subsidiary of Carlsberg, with Olympic Brewery that owns the Fix brand, announced a few days ago, Alexandros Karafyllidis, the chief executive officer at Mythos told Kathimerini.

“What the group is examining is to utilize the infrastructures in Greece for the production of products that are not consumed in Greece and for their export through the port of Piraeus to the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean where Carlsberg has a strong activity. This is why this merger has a growth prospect, as it will create new needs for staff, and new jobs,” said Karafyllidis.

He added that the planning conducted at the Carlsberg headquarters in Denmark provides for these moves to be implemented within the next five years during which some 50 million euros will be invested.
