Investors waiting for Monday’s Eurogroup

In anticipation of yet another crucial Eurogroup meeting – this time scheduled for Monday in Brussels – traders mostly held back on Friday, with sellers keeping the upper hand.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 850.27 points, shedding 0.85 percent from Thursday’s 857.54 points. On a weekly basis it lost 3.43 percent. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index contracted 0.97 percent to end at 251.56 points.

Few blue chips posted gains, led by Marfin Investment Group (up 3.33 percent) and Jumbo (3.16 percent). National Bank lost 5.22 percent and Eurobank fell 3.88 percent.

In total 49 stocks expanded, 58 declined and 22 stayed unchanged.

Turnover continued to slide, reaching 65.6 million euros, against Thursday’s 66.3 million.
