Shipping Report

TANKERS Weaker conditions since our last report for Aframaxes in all areas. – Modern tonnage in the Med. is being negotiated at around W/S 100, while in Cont. are near W/S 90. – Suezmaxes out of W. Africa are being fixed at W/S 82.5, with Blanchard having fixed M/T «Pecos» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 6, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 82.5, while in the Med., Alpine has fixed M/T «Minerva Symphony» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 11, discharging UKCM, at W/S 80. – On VLCCs, rates are still low, with Exxonmobil having fixed M/T «Atlantic Liberty» for 280,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 23, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 57.5, while Stasco has fixed M/T «Front Sabang» for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 26, discharging East, at W/S 72.5. – In the Med., Petraco for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 8 Black Sea, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Genmar Ocean» at W/S 75. – In the Cont., Exxonmobil for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 18 Denmark, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Bali Sea» at W/S 110. – In Arabian Gulf, Stasco for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 26, discharging Far East, has fixed M/T «Front Sabang» at W/S 72.5. DRY CARGO A softer market for all sizes in the East and West. – On Capers, Kleimar in the Atlantic has fixed M/V «Channel Alliance,» 171,978 dwt, built 1996, delivery Fos beg. Sept. for transatlantic voyage, redelivery Skaw-Passero, at USD 35,000 daily, while in Far East, Transfield has fixed M/V «Dynasty,» 133,082 dwt, built 1982, delivery China early Sept. via W. Australia, redelivery China, at USD 21,000 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Shinwa has fixed M/V «Federal Sumida,» 72,500 dwt, built 1998, delivery Japan beg. Sept., trip via Australia, at USD 16,250 daily. – In the Atlantic, NNHC has fixed M/V «Bestore,» 70,181 dwt, built 1993, delivery US Gulf Sept. 11-20, trip via Egypt, redelivery Passero, at USD 16,750 daily and USD 280,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, MCL has fixed M/V «Steel Glory,» 39,345 dwt, built 1984, delivery S. Africa beg. Sept., redelivery UKC, at USD 11,900 daily. – On grain cargoes, Casillo has fixed M/V «Estable Duckling» for 50,000 tons of cargo, loading St Lawrence beg. Sept., discharging Italy, at USD 16.00 per ton with 8,000-ton load and 5,000 tons discharge.
