Lafazanis promises ‘significant’ natural gas rate cut in April

Production Reconstruction and Energy Minister Panayiotis Lafazanis informed deputies on Monday that the Public Gas Corporation (DEPA) will reduce its natural gas rates ‘significantly’ next month.

Lafazanis added that decreasing the cost of energy is a main issue for the government.

He said the country’s emergence from the crisis is tied to a drop in energy prices and that efforts would concentrate on that front.

“I can’t tell you the exact rate of reduction, but I can tell you that natural gas prices will come down significantly,» Lafazanis told a parliamentary committee.

He added that this will be made possible despite the difficulties arising from the financial crisis.
