Shops to open Sunday ahead of Easter holidays

Retail stores will have the option to stay open on Sunday ahead of the Easter break next week, the Confederation of Greek Commerce said on Tuesday, following reactions from some professionals against Sunday operation.

According to the decision, shops, mainly on high streets, and supermarkets will be open this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Athens and Thessaloniki, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Piraeus.

On Good Friday, ahead of Greek Orthodox Easter on April 12, shops and supermarkets will operate from 1-7 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Athens, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Piraeus and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Thessaloniki.

All stores will remain closed on Easter Sunday and Monday, April 12 and 13.
