TANKERS Even firmer rates in the Med., with Shell having fixed Banias / Med at W/S 165 and a number of fixtures reported at W/S 160. – Similar picture in the North Sea, with rates above W/S 120. CSSA has fixed M/T «Poul Spirit» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading October 20 UK, discharging UKC, at the abovementioned levels. – Caribs it seems will also follow the above market with latest fixtures moving near W/S 170 for 70,000 tons of cargo. – VLCCS are also fixed higher than last rates, with cargoes to East and West at W/S 62.5 and W/S 52.5 respectively. – Suezmaxes even weaker out of West Africa, with Sun having fixed M/T «Paros» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading October 31, discharging USAC, at W/S 91.25. – In the Med., Karran for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading October 22, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Minerva Anna» at W/S 160. – On the Cont., Koch, for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading October 18, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Bergitta» at W/S 122.5. – In Caribs, Koch has fixed Genmar tonnage for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading October 12, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 150. – In West Africa, Emerald has fixed M/T «Sea Star» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading October 28, discharging USAC, at W/S 95. DRY CARGO High freight levels remain in a market where all particular indices are moving upward. The day before yesterday, BCI and Panamax indices gained 181 and 265 points respectively. – On latest fixtures, SK shipping has fixed M/V «Alpha Cosmos,» 169,770 dwt, built 2001, delivery UKC end of November for three years’ trading at USD 30,000 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Damato has fixed M/V «Navios Star,» 76,700 dwt, built 1996, delivery Far East beginning of November for three years’ trading at USD 16,100 daily. – In Atlantic, Gunge Geneva has fixed M/V «George,» 77,078 dwt, built 1984, delivery US Gulf October 15-20, redelivery Far East, at USD 25,450 daily. – On smaller sizes, Fayette has fixed M/V «Eugenia B,» 46,747 dwt, built 1998, delivery October 5-10 Korea, trip via Black Sea, redelivery Far East, at USD 16,000 daily.
