TANKERS North Sea / Baltic looks to have stabilized after the rush for end-October cargoes, at W/S 165-170 for normal loads and at W/S 142.5-145 for 100,000-ton cargoes out of the Baltic. – Med. seems steady too, with the latest fixtures at W/S 187.5-190 out of the Black Sea, while vessels built in the 1980s are at W/S 160-165. – Caribs with a low amount of reported fixtures, while in West Africa, on Suezmaxes, Sun has fixed M/T «Genmar Prometheus» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading November 12, discharging USAC, at W/S 107.5. – VLCCs from the same area are being fixed around W/S 60 with destination US Gulf. Trafigura has fixed M/T «Courtenay Bay» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading November 14 at above said levels. – In the Med., Karran for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 2 Russia, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Four Bay» at W/S 185. – In the Cont., Gunvor for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading end-October Baltic, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Beryl» at W/S 175. – On Suezmax, Atmi for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading November 5 East Coast UK, discharging US Gulf, has fixed Genmar tonnage at W/S 105. DRY CARGO Capers on the same course, with extremely high freight levels though details are scarce. – M/V «Princess Nadia,» 153,329 dwt, built 1987, is said to be fixed for a short T/C period at USD 56,000 daily. – On Panamaxes, rates in the East began to rise again, while the Atlantic is expected to follow shortly, particularly, for the slightly more forward positions. – In the East, Sanko has fixed M/V «Hanjin Tacoma,» 70,347 dwt, built 1994, delivery Japan end-October, trip via New Zealand, at USD 33,000 daily. – On the T/C periods, Bottiglieri has fixed M/V «De Hua Hai,» 74,500 dwt, built 2001, delivery Belgium for 11-13 months’ trading at USD 27,000 daily. – On Handymaxes rates remain strong. Cargill is rumored to have fixed M/V «Apex,» 53,806 dwt, built 2002, delivery China, trip via Malaysia, redelivery UKC, at USD 30,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Grant has fixed M/V «Bunga Saga Lima,» 73,144 dwt, built 1998, delivery Brazil November 22-28 for 2-3 months’ trading, redelivery UKC/Med. at USD 30,000 daily and USD 340,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, M/V «Handy Prince,» 21,735 dwt, built 1981, delivery Gibraltar October 22-23 for 12 months’ trading, was fixed at USD 8,000 daily.
