TANKERS Firm market in all areas, with VLCCs at W/S 160 Arabian Gulf / East. – Firmer rates on Suezmaxes in the N. Sea on the back of very strong Aframax market. Latest fixtures at W/S 170 for 135,000 tons of cargoes for transatlantic voyages. – In the Med., rates are close to W/S 200 from Black Sea with a delay of about 24 days due to Bosporus congestion. – W. Africa has lesser inquiry. The 130,000-ton cargoes are fixed at W/S 155 with destination USA. – Aframax firm in Med. at W/S 250 out of Black Sea, W/S 240 for normal cross trips. – In N. Sea, rates have moved up with latest fixtures at W/S 235-240. Stasco has fixed M/T «Nordlight» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 19, discharging UKC, at W/S 235. – In the Med., Slavneft has fixed Minerva tonnage for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 18, discharging Med., at W/S 242.5, while Adam for same cargo quantity, loading Dec. 22 with same destination, has fixed M/T «Apageon» at W/S 210. – In the Cont., Stasco has fixed M/T «Nordlight» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 19, discharging UKC, at W/S 235, while Lukoil has fixed M/T «Barents Sea» for same cargo quantity, loading Dec. 10, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 215. – In W. Africa, Arcadia has fixed M/T «Genmar Alta» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Dec. 30, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 155. – In Arabian Gulf, IOC for 260,000-ton cargo, loading Dec. 20, discharging India, fixed M/T «Europe» at W/S 160. DRY CARGO Unchanged market, with firm rates for Capers and slackening of inquiry for Panamaxes. – Monday’s Biffex gained 11 points totaling 4,526, while bulk carriers has reached 6,397, gaining 46 points. – Panamax has lost 31 points, totaling 4,425. – On Capers, T/C period Kleimar has fixed M/V «Obeliks,» 170,000 dwt, built 2000, delivery Dec. 12-15 France, for 15-18 months’ trading at USD 58,000 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, Bunge has fixed M/V «Clipper Emperor,» 74,400 dwt, built 2000, delivery China Dec. 6-10, for 4-6 month period at USD 35,250 daily, while Nyk has fixed M/V «Chinese Phoenix,» 69,300 dwt, built 1991, delivery Aden Dec. 10-15, trip via India, redelivery Japan, at USD 37,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Abt has fixed M/V «Petka,» 75,100 dwt, built 1994, delivery Amsterdam mid-Dec. for 2 legs at USD 36,000 daily, while Pan Ocean has fixed M/V «Apollon,» 70,000 dwt, built 1994, delivery US Gulf Dec. 15-25, redelivery Far East, at USD 33,000 daily and USD 450,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, Korea Line has fixed M/V «Acamar,» 62,700 dwt, built 1977, delivery Far East beg.
