Greek hotel rates return to pre-crisis levels

Online hotel rates in Greece reverted to pre-crisis levels this month, according to data collected by booking website Trivago.

The average online rate for hotels in Greece in May has climbed 19.1 percent from last year to reach 106 euros per double room per night. That means Greece is the fifth-cheapest country among 24 European states this month.

In Athens, the average rate has risen 25.5 percent from May 2014 to reach 133 euros, from 106 euros last year. This has brought Athens to 24th spot among 50 European cities, and above rival destinations Madrid and Istanbul – both have an average rate of 130 euros.
