ATHEX: Small gains on reduced turnover

Reserved trade saw turnover dip to less than 75 million euros at the Greek bourse on Thursday and although the banks index posted a marginal drop the benchmark managed to recover its morning losses to end up well in the green.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 833.42 points, adding 0.55 percent to Wednesday’s 828.87 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index expanded 0.44 percent to close at 250.03 points.

The banks index slipped 0.13 percent as Piraeus Bank fell 3.70 percent and Eurobank gave up 1.41 percent. Aegean Airlines landed 7.01 percent lower, while EYDAP advanced 6.48 percent and Marfin Investment Group climbed 6.20 percent.

Public Power Corp continued its decline (down 3.47 percent) after the announcement it will be ejected from the MSCI Standard Greece index.

In total 73 stocks moved up, 45 headed south and 18 stayed put.

Turnover came to 74.4 million euros, down from Wednesday’s 93.2 million.
