Eurogroup to meet before Monday’s emergency summit, says Sapin

The Eurogroup of eurozone finance ministers will be meeting again before an emergency leaders’ summit to discuss Greek debt negotiations, French Finance Minister Michel Sapin was quoted by Dow Jones Newswires as saying on Friday.

“A summit like this is prepared by finance ministers so there will be a Eurogroup meeting to prepare,” he said.

Eurozone leaders are to convene on Monday for an emergency summit to discuss the Greek crisis after eurozone finance ministers meeting in Luxembourg on Thursday failed to make any progress toward breaking an impasse between Greece and its creditors as withdrawals from Greek banks intensified.
