TANKERS Firmer conditions on VLCCs in West Africa, with latest fixtures from W/S 160 to W/S 180 with destinations US Gulf. – Rates out of Arabian Gulf are stable at W/S 145-150 with destinations east, while for western destinations, they’re at W/S 120. – Firmer conditions on Suezmaxes out of West Africa, with latest fixtures at W/S 235, while in the Med., Lukoil for 145,000 tons of cargo, loading Novorossisk February 4, discharging UKC/Med., has fixed M/T «Aegean Lady» at W/S 310. – Improved rates on Aframaxes in the North Sea with 80,000-ton cargoes being fixed at W/S 235-245. Conoco has fixed M/T «Stena Confidence,» loading January 28, at W/S 235. – In the Med., Petroplus for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading January 26 Algeria, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Scorpius» at W/S 270. – In Caribs, Valero for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading January 28 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Portel» at W/S 395. DRY CARGO On Capers, Coeclerici has fixed M/V «Xing Wang Hai,» 175,000 dwt, built 2003, delivery/redelivery UK end January for transatlantic round-trip voyage at USD 100,000 daily. – On T/C periods, Transfield has fixed M/V «Ocean Dragon,» 151,00 dwt, built 1995, delivery end March – beg. April for one year’s trading at USD 57,800 daily. – On Panamax in Far East, SK Shipping has fixed M/V «Tetien Trader,» 73,910 dwt, built 2001, delivery February 7-10 Aden, trip via South Africa, redelivery UKC/Med., at USD 48,500 daily. – In Atlantic, Flame has fixed M/V «Aleslevada,» 70,366 dwt, built 1990, delivery mid-January France via Colombia, redelivery UKC, at USD 42,500 daily. – On smaller sizes, Seals Line has fixed M/V «Atlantic Fortune,» 44,820 dwt, built 1994, delivery UKC January13-14, redelivery Far East, at USD 30,000 daily.
