Odeon Kosmopolis multiplex to shut down after 10 years

Odeon Kosmopolis on Wednesday becomes the second multiplex cinema in Athens to shut down in the space of a year, after Ster Cinemas at Ilion.

The firm which had been operating the Maroussi multiplex announced it was closing because the owner of the property on Kifissias Avenue, Piraeus Bank, is planning to change its use.

Market sources say that the 22,752-square meter Kosmopolis shopping center, with which the multiplex shares the space, will be turned into a single retail outlet, speculating that there may be a deal with the Fourlis group, which represents the Leroy Merlin chain.
