Greek firm Sunrise Photovoltaic wins Jordanian contract

Jordan awarded contracts to Athens-based Sunrise Photovoltaic Systems and Saudi Oger Ltd to each build a 50 megawatt solar power plant in the kingdom, according to Ghaleb Maabreh, secretary-general of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The agreements will be signed with the two companies in the first quarter of 2016 and the projects are scheduled to be completed in 18-24 months, Maabreh said in an interview in Amman.

The kingdom plans to have renewable energy projects with total capacity of 1,000 megawatts by the end of 2018, he said.
