ATHEX: Bourse rocked as China dives

News of the slide in Chinese stocks gave the Greek market quite a shake on Thursday, resulting in further losses for local equities.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 590.75 points, shedding 4.35 percent from Tuesday’s 617.59 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index contracted 4.58 percent to close at 169.19 points.

Alpha Bank fell 8.70 percent and PPC declined 7.18 percent, while Ellaktor was the only blue chip to go up (0.71 percent).

In total 19 stocks rose, 77 dropped and 14 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 113.4 million euros, up from Tuesday’s 82.8 million.
