ATHEX: Index ends shy of 500 pts
The Greek stock benchmark once again failed to clear the 500-point barrier on Thursday as a result of trader caution, while blue chips had a mixed session.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 497.75 points, adding 0.54 percent to Wednesday’s 495.10 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 0.21 percent to end at 133.60 points.
Alpha was the only bank stock to go up, by 1.36 percent, as Piraeus Bank fell 8.45 percent.
In total 45 stocks rose, 38 dropped and 29 stayed put.
Turnover reached 50.5 million euros.
The general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange in Nicosia climbed 0.62 percent to 64.46 points.
