EU’s Sefcovic to attend TAP pipeline ceremony in Thessaloniki

European Commission vice president Maros Sefcovic will be among the officials to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in Thessaloniki on Tuesday, it has been announced.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will also attend the event, along with dignitaries from the other two countries involved in the project: Italy and Albania. Azerbaijan`s Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev is another of the officials who has announced he will be present.

TAP will connect the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) with the Italian natural gas network and allow natural gas from the Caspian Sea to be transported to Western Europe.
