Athens benchmark rises for third day in a row

The Athens stock exchange’s general index rose for a third consecutive day on Thursday.

The 0.89 percent increase took the index up to 572.33 points. Turnover remained low, though, reaching 18.6 million euros.

Investors showed particular interest in Coca-Cola HBC shares after the soft drinks producer declared an 11.8 percent increase in profits for the first half of 2016. Its share price shot up 6.45 percent to 19.65 euros during Thursday’s trading.

The next highest riser was Lamda Development, whose share price rose 2.03 percent.

In contrast, Gek Terna shares fell 2.01 percent, followed by Alpha Bank, which sank 1.7 percent.

Overall, 47 stock prices rose, 30 fell and 21 remained unchanged.
