OMV has fixed M/T «Parthenon» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 18 Libya, discharging Italy, at W/S 125. – The picture is similar in the North Sea and Caribs, with BP having fixed M/T «Stena Condustor» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 15, discharging UKC, at W/S 130, while in Caribs the same charterers have fixed M/T «Regent» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading April 21 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 125. – On Suezmaxes, one vessel was fixed out of North Sea with destination USAC at W/S 127.5, a rate which is in line with the West Africa market. – In the Med., Vitol has fixed M/T «Majestic» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading April 23 Ceyhan, discharging US Gulf – Med., at W/S 125 – W/S 140 respectively. – In West Africa, Chevtex has fixed Alliance tonnage for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading May 12, discharging South Korea, at W/S 125. – In Arabian Gulf, Vela for 280,000 tons of cargo, loading May 5, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Violando» at W/S 85. DRY CARGO The Capers market is steady, with round-trip voyages in the Far East around USD 40,000 daily. Seyang has fixed M/V «Papa,» 139,000 dwt, built 1984, delivery China 12-15 April, trip via East Coast Australia, redelivery Far East, at USD 42,000 daily. – Panamaxes are also steady in the same area, with round-trip voyages hovering around USD 35,000 daily. – Asahi has fixed M/V «Maritime Rial,» 69,600 dwt, built 1993, delivery April 14-16 Japan, trip via Canada, at USD 37,000 daily, while M/V «Gianfranca d’Amato,» 74,710 dwt, built 2000, delivery China April 11-13, redelivery Japan, was fixed at USD 34,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Dreyfus has fixed M/V «Tian Yang Feng,» 74,027 dwt, built 2000, delivery France April 16-17, trip via Argentina, redelivery Far East, at USD 53,000 daily, while Daiichi has fixed M/V «Powhatan» 69,045 dwt, built 1995, delivery Netherlands April 15, trip via USAC, redelivery Japan, at USD 52,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Transfield has fixed M/V «Konkar Theo» 45,232 dwt, built 1995, delivery mid-April China, redelivery Far East, at USD 25,000 daily. – On coal cargoes Posco for 150,000 tons of cargo, loading Roberts Bank April 28 – May 5, has fixed at USD 14.64 per ton with 50,000-ton load and 35,000 tons discharge.
