TANKERS More activity in N. Sea, especially for Aframaxes with month’s end loading dates. Rates for 80,000-ton round-trip voyages at W/S 130-135 and expected to rise further. – CSSA for 80,000-ton cargo, loading April 25 N. Sea, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «St Conductor» at W/S 130, while on 100,000-ton cargoes out of the Baltic, Gunvor has fixed M/T «Aegean Faith,» loading April 25, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 152.5. – Med. stable despite the low number of fixtures. Rates are hovering around W/S 110. Alpine has fixed M/T «Aldebaran» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 25, discharging Med., at abovementioned levels. – Caribs remain weak, with Chevtex having fixed AET tonnage for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading April 24, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 118.5. – Suezmax market in the Med. is mainly concentrated for cargoes out of Ceyhan, while in N. Sea, the 135,000-ton cargoes are still being fixed at W/S 125 with destination US. – Sun dominates the Suezmax market out of W. Africa, with three cargoes and three Genmar TBN fixtures at W/S 117.5 with destination USAC. – VLCCs out of Arabian Gulf with marginal inquiry, while on Suezmaxes, Saras has fixed M/T «SCF Sayan» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading May 1, discharging Italy, at W/S 120. – In the Med., Janorch for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 27 Russia, discharging Med., has fixed Minerva tonnage at W/S 130. – In the Cont., CSSA for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 23, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Petrokrepost» at W/S 132.5. – In Caribs, Valero has fixed AET tonnage for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading April 23 Venezuela, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 118.5. – In W. Africa, Petrobras has fixed M/T «Athenian Olympics» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading April 30, discharging Brazil, at W/S 120. – In Arabian Gulf, Unipec for 240,000 tons of cargo, loading May 2, discharging China, has fixed M/T «Dynamic City» at W/S 99.5. DRY CARGO Far East with more caper cargoes. On April 14, their index gained 72 points, totaling 5,276. – Mitsui in the area has fixed M/V «Alpha Action,» 150,791 dwt, built 1994, delivery Korea April 25-30, trip via Roberts Bank, redelivery Japan, at USD 54,000 daily, while Transfield fixed M/V «Fighting Lady,» 141,014 dwt, built 1982, delivery China end April, trip via Australia, at USD 44,000 daily. – Panamax market also active in Far East, with Cobelfret having fixed M/V «Thalia,» 75,120 dwt, built 2001, delivery Japan April 17-18, trip via Australia, redelivery Rotterdam, at USD 32,750 daily. – On T/C periods, Noble has fixed M/V «Tien Song Feng,» 74,000 dwt, built 2000, delivery April 15-20, for 4-6 months’ trading at USD 38,000 daily.
