Moscovici calls for a post-bailout growth strategy

European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Pierre Moscovici called on Friday for the creation of a growth strategy in Greece for the period after the end of the bailout program in August.

Addressing a parliamentary committee in Athens, the French official said: “we have reached the end of the road, we are running the home straight. When one has run 70 to 80 percent of the course, everyone else must meet their obligations,” adding that Greece’s peers will need to implement their pledges for the completion of the program.

“My wish is for Greece to revert to normality, i.e. to be become a sovereign state with all the rights and duties,” he said.

He also argued that in the next few weeks a growth strategy will have to be drafted for the post-program period, a strategy that will be designed for Greece by the Greeks, wishing also that Greek people will get to stay in this country that will evolve into a strong European state.
