CyTA looking into possible partnership with Forthnet NICOSIA – Cyprus telecoms CyTA is conducting due diligence evaluation of Greek alternative telecoms provider Forthnet, a source in the Cypriot state-run company said yesterday. «We are carrying out a due diligence evaluation… we were there last week,» a source told Reuters. «There has been a proposal for cooperation so now we are assessing the company,» said the source, who declined to be identified. Forthnet investor relations officer George Dermitzakis said the company would make an announcement «if there is anything new.» (Reuters) Latsis group holds top- level contacts in Romania A delegation of top officials of EFG Eurobank Ergasias, headed by the group president, Spyros Latsis, met Romanian President Ion Iliescu, Prime Minister Adrian Nastase and a number of ministers in Bucharest on Sunday and Monday, a bank statement said. Discussions included the Romanian privatization program and infrastructure development issues. The Latsis group has a presence in Romanian banking and real estate. Doukas in Washington After meeting Department of the Treasury and IMF officials in Washington yesterday, Deputy Finance Minister Petros Doukas expressed satisfaction with Greece’s current creditworthiness, adding that in view of more competitive borrowing conditions in the enlarged EU, Greece had to maintain relationships of trust with the big global credit organizations, most of which are based in the US. He said he found strong interest in planned Greek privatizations. Intralot Gaming system operator Intralot repeated yesterday it would take its case against gaming group OPAP to the Supreme Court, but said it was open to a compromise if OPAP’s new management made a move. OPAP won an appeal in February against a court decision granting Intralot 37.4 million euros in compensation for a delay in OPAP’s launch of new betting games, which were due to be supported by Intralot’s systems. «We aim for a new beginning in the relationship between OPAP and Intralot thanks to OPAP’s new management… our relationship with OPAP is basically our ticket for expansion abroad,» Intralot CEO Constantinos Antonopoulos told Reuters.
