Turnover in central Athens stores down in autumn sales season

One in two retail commerce enterprises located in the center of Athens told a survey published by the Athens Commerce Club on Thursday that their turnover fell during the fall sales period compared with the same period last year.

Compared with the same period in 2018, the survey found that 50.7 percent of businesses recorded lower turnover, 21 percent observed an increase, and almost one in three saw no change.

Referring specifically to Sunday’s turnover, 11.3 percent said it was better compared with the same day in 2018.

A spectacular 93.4 percent said they wanted to see the fall sales period scrapped, 82.7 percent said their stores were negatively affected by protests, and 17.3 percent said they were not affected by such activities.
