TANKERS Aframax market in the Med. is trading around W/S 120 with modern tonnage available on prompt dates and very marginal fresh inquiry, especially from Black Sea. – BP has fixed M/T «Black Sea» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 10 Syria, discharging Med., at W/S 120, while CSSA for same cargo, loading Sept. 14 Libya, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Livia» at W/S 125. – The picture in the N. Sea is similar, with 100,000 tons of cargo fixed at W/S 125 and 80,000 tons at around W/S 120. – Lukoil has fixed M/T «Overseas Portl.,» for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 18, discharging UKC, at W/S 125, while CSSA for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 14 Black Sea, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Petropavlosk» at W/S 115. – Caribs rates are also low, with the 70,000-ton cargo liftings fixed at less than W/S 150. – Chevtex has fixed M/T «Genmar Strength,» loading Sept. 13, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 145, while BP for same cargo, loading Sept. 8, with same destination, has fixed M/T «Album» at same levels. – Suezmaxes in the Med. out of Novo are fixed at W/S 145, while cross cargoes are fixed at W/S 130. – In W. Africa, ExxonMobil has fixed M/T «Butron» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 5, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 145, while CEPSA has fixed M/T «Wilma Yangtze,» loading Sept. 29, discharging Spain, at W/S 155. – On VLCCs out of Arabian Gulf, Fuji for 259,000 tons of cargo, loading Sept. 28, discharging Japan, has fixed M/T «C. Dream» at W/S 85. DRY CARGO A very quiet trading day. – Capesize in the East are fixed at less than USD 60,000 daily for round-voyages. – Transfield has fixed M/V «Pampas,» 151,380 dwt, built 1990, delivery W. Australia, redelivery China, at USD 60,000 daily and with USD 650,000 ballast bonus. – On Panamaxes, there are a number of vessels being fixed or gone on subs with rates around USD 30,000 daily for either transatlantic voyages or with destination Far East. – Noble has fixed M/V «Fujian,» 75,300 dwt, built 1997, delivery mid-Sept. Passero, trip via East Coast S. America and S. Arabia, redelivery Muscat, at USD 31,750 daily, while NSS has fixed M/V «Great Intelligence,» 74,293 dwt, built 2000, delivery mid-Sept. Japan, trip via China, at USD 30,500 daily. – On short T/C periods, Bunge has fixed M/V «Energy Star,» 75,250 dwt, built 2003, delivery China Sept. 10-15, for three-five months’ trading at USD 33,500 daily. – On smaller sizes, WBC has fixed M/V «Dimitris Manios,» 37,664 dwt, built 1984, delivery Italy beg.-Sept., trip via East Med., redelivery US Gulf, at USD 19,000 daily.
