TANKERS Firm market in all areas and sizes. In the Med., rates for 80,000 tons round-voyages are hovering around W/S 280. ExxonMobil has fixed M/T «Apanemo,» loading Oct. 18 Turkey, discharging Italy, at W/S 280, while SARAS, loading Oct. 20 Libya, with same destination, has fixed M/T «Valbruna» at W/S 250. In the N. Sea, CSSA has fixed M/T «Laura,» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 21 N. Sea, discharging UKC, at W/S 330, while Lukoil, for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 17, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «British Merlin» at W/S 305. Caribs market still maintains firm rates, not only on the 80s but on 50,000 tons of cargo too. Stusco has fixed M/T «Jag Leela,» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 20, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 325, while Chevtex, for 50,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 7, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Polys» at W/S 240. Suezmax rates in W. Africa are negotiated around W/S 250 while W/S 250 was paid with destination Chile. Petrobras, for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 27, discharging Brazil, has fixed M/T «Mindanao» at W/S 250. In the N. Sea, rates for transatlantic voyages are hovering around W/S 225, while Med. is negotiated above W/S 250. On VLCCs in Arabian Gulf, Vitol, for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading Oct. 23, discharging S. Korea, has fixed M/T «Prem Putli» at W/S 162.5. DRY CARGO Steady Capesize market with signs of firming in the Atlantic area despite the start of Chinese holidays. On long T/C periods, Sinochart has fixed M/V «Rubin Grace,» 166,939 dwt, built 1995, for three years’ trading at USD 36,000 daily. In the Atlantic and on voyages with destination East, Hanjin has fixed M/V «Sea Victory,» 180,000 dwt, built 2004, delivery mid-Oct. UK, trip via Brazil, at USD 80,000 daily. On Panamaxes after the holidays in Asia, market seems steady, with rates over USD 30,000 daily for round-voyages. In some instances, lMES are gaining USD 35,000 daily, depending on position and trade. In Far East, Bottiglieri has fixed M/V «Nordmoritz,» 72,610 dwt, built 1995, delivery beg.-Oct. China, for 3-5 months’ trading at USD 34,000 daily. In Atlantic, Wilmar has fixed M/V «Stalo,» 73,034 dwt, built 1995, delivery US Gulf Oct. 10-20, redelivery China, at USD 35,000 daily and USD 600,000 ballast bonus. On smaller sizes, TG has fixed M/V «Little Annou,» 44,875 dwt, built 1994, delivery end-Oct. Indonesia, redelivery Southeast Asia, at USD 33,500 daily.
