TANKERS Market continues to be quiet, with owners offering for cross-trip 80,000-ton cargoes as low as W/S 160. – Eni has fixed M/T «Gaetano d’Alesio» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading June 29 Egypt, discharging Mediterranean, at W/S 157.5. – North Sea requirements are working on end of June dates – the beginning of July has rates hovering at W/S 140. – Caribs at lower rates for 70,000-ton cargo liftings. – Shell has fixed M/T «Ce Niriis» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading June 26 East Coast Mexico, discharging USAC, at W/S 170, while Marathon, for same cargo, loading June 29, discharging US Gulf, has fixed OSG tonnage at W/S 195. – Suezmaxes out of West Africa at steady levels, with 130,000-ton cargoes at W/S 140, while VLCCs out of the same area are being fixed at W/S 70 with destination US Gulf. – Mediterranean market remains sensitive on loading dates. Itochu has fixed M/T «Aegean Dignity» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading Black Sea, discharging UKC-Mediterranean, at W/S 150. – In the Mediterranean and on Aframaxes, Mercuria, for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading June 28 Black Sea, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Kapsali» at W/S 160. – In West Africa, Enap has fixed M/T «Desh Shanti» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading July 15, discharging Chile, at W/S 150. – In Arabian Gulf, NGT, for 248,000 tons of cargo, loading June 29, discharging Spain, has fixed M/T «Grand Lady» at W/S 52.5. DRY CARGO Capers freights remain low, while an interest from charterers in fixing short T/C periods might be an indication of steadier levels. – Panamax market remains weak with a shortage of very prompt vessels in the Atlantic. – Round-trip voyages of modern types at about USD 20,000 daily. – On T/C periods, Cargill has fixed M/V «Myrto,» 74,470 dwt, built 2001, for 10-12 months’ trading at USD 23,100 daily. – On Panamaxes in Far East, Cosbulk has fixed M/V «Fu May,» 76,015 dwt, built 2002, delivery end June China, redelivery Hong Kong / Taiwan, at USD 12,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Cargill has fixed M/V «Flipper,» 73,726 dwt, built 1999, delivery Morocco mid-June, for a transatlantic voyage at USD 27,250 daily. – On smaller sizes, Armada has fixed M/V «Lucija,» 43,195 dwt, built 1995, delivery end June US Gulf, redelivery Spain, at USD 29,500.
