TANKERS Steady market in the Med., with the latest fixtures on Aframaxes at W/S 180 while cargoes out of Black Sea are fixed at a premium of an additional 5 points. – N. Sea remains quiet, while the 100,000 tons of cargoes are still fixed at W/S 130. – Caribs have a number of cargoes, while rates for the 70,000 tons cargo liftings are fixed at W/S 170. The smaller sized cargoes of 50,000 tons are fixed at W/S 260-265. – Suezmax out of W. Africa are at steady levels, although the ample supply of tonnage till August 5th is expected to cause rates to decline. – The picture is similar in the Med., due to many ships to even fewer stems. – VLCCs out of W. Africa are in balance and expect rates to remain firm. – VLCCs out of Arabian Gulf are at W/S 62.5 – W/S 65 with destination Cont., and W/S 75 with destination East. – On Aframax in the Med., CSSA for 80,000 tons of cargo loading July 19 Tunisia discharging UKC-Med. has fixed M/T Minerva Lisa at W/S 180. – In the Cont., Alpine has fixed M/T Petropavlosk for 100,000 tons of cargo loading 18 July Baltic discharging UKC, at W/S 130. – In Caribs, Marathon for 70,000 tons of cargo loading July 11 East Coast Mexico discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T SKS Torrens at W/S 170. – In W. Africa, Sun for 130,000 tons of cargo loading July 30 discharging USAC, has fixed M/T Energy Sprinter at W/S 119.5. DRY CARGO There is still a reasonable amount of cargoes for Capers in the Atlantic, with rates for trips with destination East at USD 48,000 daily. – On the traditional coal route Richards Bay / Rotterdam, it is said that for a cargo of 150,000 tons of cargo for July loading dates a rate of USD 11.85 per ton was agreed. – On Panamaxes the market remains weak, with Cargill having fixed M/V Nord Sun 76,000 dwt, built 2004, delivery East Coast S. America redelivery Far East, at USD 21,000 daily and USD 500,000 ballast bonus. – In the Far East, BHP Billiton has fixed M/V Nordmoritz 72,610 dwt, built 1995, delivery China beg. July trip via Australia, at USD 12,000 daily. – In the Atlantic, Ugland has fixed M/V Endless 73,427 dwt, built 1999, delivery Spain July 8-10 trip via Venezuela redelivery UKC, at USD 19,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Felicia Navigation has fixed M/V Solar Europe 46,667 dwt, built 1998, delivery Turkey July 14-16 redelivery Far East, at USD 24,000 daily.
