TANKERS The approximate 30 of last week’s VLCCs fixtures were able to keep steady and in some instances to improve rates for this type of tonnage. – Out of the Arabian Gulf, Hyundai has fixed M/T A. H. Bhiwandiwalla for 260,000 tons of cargo loading 6th August discharging S. Korea at W/S 90, while CSSA for 280,000 tons of cargo loading August 6 discharging UKC-Red Sea has fixed tankers tonnage at W/S 65 – W/S 90 respectively. – The same type vessels out of W. Africa with destination US Gulf are fixed at W/S 82.5. – Opposite is the picture for the Suezmaxes, while the ample supply in all areas is forcing rates down. – The 130,000 tons of cargoes out of W. Africa with destination USAC are fixed at W/S 130, while in the Med. M/T Super Lady for 135,000 tons loading July 24 Black Sea discharging Med. was fixed at W/S 100. – Aframaxes are stable in the Med., with the 80,000 tons of cargoes fixtures hovering around W/S 175, while in the N. Sea Exxonmobil has fixed M/T Petrovsk loading July 19 and for a UKC round at W/S 117. – In Caribs, Conoco has fixed M/T Coral Sea for 70,000 tons of cargo loading July 18 East Coast Mexico discharging US Gulf at W/S 170, while on smaller sizes Stusco has fixed M/T Stena Venture for 50,000 tons of cargo loading July 14 discharging USWC at W/S 265. DRY CARGO Capers in general have reacted nicely during the past week. Their Biffex from 2982 closed on Friday the 8 of July at 3090. – In the Atlantic and for the front-haul business, Baltic-type vessel has agreed to USD 50,000 daily without any further information having been disclosed. – In the Far East and on short T/C periods, North China has fixed M/V Cape Stork 171,000 dwt, built 1996, delivery China July 23-25 for 4-6 months trading at USD 31,500 daily. – The quiet conditions still persist for Panamaxes. Cargill in the East and for a short T/C period of 4-6 months has fixed M/V Ming May 74,000 dwt, built 1997, at USD 17,750 daily. – In the Far East, Mosk has fixed M/V Navios Orbiter 76,602 dwt, built 2004, delivery July 12-14 China redelivery Japan at USD 12,750 daily. – In the Atlantic, Shadab has fixed M/V Washington Trader 74,228 dwt, built 2000, delivery Netherlands July 15-20 trip via N. France redelivery Pakistan at USD 24,250 daily. – On smaller sizes, Atlas has fixed M/V Ocean Host 46,752 dwt, built 1982, delivery US Gulf end-July redelivery Denmark at USD 21,000 daily.
