TANKERS Very little is happening in the Med. as rates inevitably are coming down. Petrogal managed to fix at W/S 167.5 M/T «Lig. Prospect» for 80,000 tons of cargo loading July 22 Algeria discharging Portugal. – Weak activity for the Aframaxes in the N. Sea too. Rates for 80,000 tons of cargoes are hovering around W/S 115, while the 100,000 tons of cargoes out of Baltic are around W/S 122.5. – In Caribs, Navion has fixed Skaugen tonnage for 70,000 tons of cargo loading July 21 discharging US Gulf at W/S 170, while Stusco for same cargo loading mid July East Coast Mexico with same destination has fixed AET tonnage at W/S 172.5. – Rate established for Suezmaxes in all areas is W/S 100-102.5. – In the Med., the 135,000 tons of cargoes are fixed at W/S 102.5, while out of W. Africa the 130,000 tons of cargoes with destination USAC are at W/S 100. – In the N. Sea, Koch has fixed M/T Olympic Future for 135,000 tons of cargo loading July 23 UK discharging US Gulf at W/S 97.5, while in Caribs Exxonmobil has fixed M/T Wilmina for 137,000 tons of cargo loading July 27 Venezuela discharging US Gulf at W/S 99.5. – VLCC rates are improving, especially out of Arabian Gulf with destination East. The latest fixtures are around W/S 100 – 105 and W/S 67.5-72.5 with destination West. – Out of W. Africa, the rates still at W/S 82.5-85 with destination US Gulf. – In Arabian Gulf, Repsol for 280,000 tons of cargo loading August 6 discharging UKC-US Gulf – Red Sea has fixed M/T Lucky Trader at W/S 69 / 72.5 / 97.5 respectively. DRY CARGO Caper rates in the Atlantic are steady and we see signs of firmer rates in the East, where new business is evident. – The fixture of a modern-type Caper with delivery UKC via Brazil redelivery Far East at USD 50,000 daily was confirmed. – In the same area, TKS has fixed M/V Cic Elli S for the Tubarao (Brazil) / Rotterdam ore run at USD 11.50 per ton for 150,000 tons, 10 percent M/L. – In the Far East, BHP Billiton has fixed M/V Anangel Solidarity 161,545 dwt, built 1993, delivery China for an Australian round-trip, at USD 23,500 daily. – On Panamaxes, Transfield has fixed M/V Vogevoyager 72,170 dwt, built 1996, delivery Ireland trip via Baltic redelivery China, at USD 21,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Energy has fixed M/V Solon 42,813 dwt, built 1987, delivery St Dominican trip via Venezuela redelivery Italy, at USD 20,000 daily.
