TANKERS Quiet conditions on Aframaxes in the Med., with ENI having fixed M/T Sinova for 80,000 tons of cargoes out of Black Sea with destination Italy at W/S 152.5. – Suezmaxes are facing similar conditions in the area, with the latest fixtures around W/S 100 irrespective of voyages. – Vitol has fixed M/T Isi Olive for 135,000 tons of cargo loading July 30 black sea discharging UKC-Med. at the above-said levels. – Cont. is busier, but with fixtures at low levels. The 80,000 tons of cargoes are still at W/S 117, while the 100,000 tons out of Baltic are at W/S 125. – In Caribs, Conoco for 70,000 tons of cargo loading July 21 Venezuela discharging US Gulf has fixed M/T Sks Tiete at W/S 175, while Citgo for same cargo loading July 22 and for the same voyage has fixed M/T Genmar Pericles at W/S 170. – There are a number of new cargoes out of W. Africa, although rates remain undisturbed due to the availability of tonnage. The 130,000 tons of cargoes are still fixed at W/S 100. – Chevron has fixed M/T Narova loading August 9 discharging US Gulf at the above-said levels. – In the Arabian Gulf, BP has fixed M/T Crude Star for 270,000 tons of cargo loading August 12 discharging USWC at W/S 97.5. DRY CARGO Capesize rates in the Far East continue to nudge higher. After the M/V Anangel Solidarity fixture for an Australian round-trip voyage at USD 23,500 daily, BHP Billiton has fixed M/V Tian Lu Hai 174,505 dwt, built 2005, for the same voyage at USD 28,000 daily. – In the Atlantic there is talk that Nyk has fixed M/V Mineral Monaco, 180,000 dwt, for a trip to the East, at USD 48,000 daily. – On Panamaxes the market remains weak, with early tonnage and ballasters continuing to overshadow the market. – In the Atlantic, Bunge has fixed M/V Darya Tara, 73,281 dwt, built 2000, delivery Passero end-July trip via South America redelivery Singapore-Japan, at USD 19,500 daily. – In the Far East, Cargill has fixed M/V Efrossini, 76,000 dwt, built 2003, delivery Korea July 12-15 trip via USWC redelivery Far East, at USD 13,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, WBC has fixed M/V Jimilta 2, 42,838 dwt, built 1985, delivery lower Baltic July 24-30 trip via Continent redelivery Turkey, at USD 23,000 daily. – On grain cargoes, Zen-Noh for 54,000 tons of cargo loading US Gulf in late July-early August and discharging Japan has paid USD 37.75 per ton with 11 days all purposes.
