TANKERS A very quiet day in the Mediterranean, with rates for Aframaxes close to W/S 120. – Suezmaxes in the same area are being fixed at less than W/S 100. – Petrogal has fixed M/T «Euro Champion 2004» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading August 1 Arzew (Algeria), discharging Portugal, at W/S 95. – In the North Sea, July dates continue to look thin on tonnage. Market for Aframaxes at W/S 122.5, while Clearlake, for 100,000 tons of cargo out of Murmansk, loading August 1-2, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «M. Zenia» at W/S 137.5. – In Caribs, Chevron has fixed M/T «Elise Schulte» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading July 25, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 187.5, while Marathon has fixed M/T «Astro Sculptor» for same cargo, loading July 25 with same destination, at W/S 180. – On Suezmaxes in West Africa, Chevron has fixed Alliance tonnage for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading August 10, discharging USWC, at W/S 120. – On Aframaxes in the Mediterranean, IES has fixed M/T «Maria Tsakos» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading July 27, Egypt, discharging Italy, at W/S 140. – In the Cont., BP, for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading July 27 and for a UKC round-trip, has fixed M/T «Scorpius» at W/S 117.5. – In Arabian Gulf, Vela, for 275,000 tons of cargo, loading August 12, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Sylt» at W/S 79.5. DRY CARGO Weaker conditions also for Capers, while on Friday the Capers index gained 14 points, on Monday it lost 20, totaling to 3,187. – The picture is similar for Panamaxes. There are signs that rates in the Atlantic for lmes-type round-trip voyages have slipped to USD 15,000 daily, while those with destinations East are hovering around USD 17,000 daily. – On Capers, Cargill has fixed M/V «Ocean Century,» 171,191 dwt, built 2000, delivery Spain end July, trip via Colombia, redelivery UKC-Mediterranean, at USD 33,500 daily. – On Panamaxes in Far East, BHP Billiton has fixed M/V «Great Prosperity,» 73,679 dwt, built 1999, delivery July 20-22 China, trip via Indonesia, redelivery UKC, at USD 9,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Transgrain has fixed M/V «Irene,» 65,671 dwt, built 1993, delivery end July Argentina, redelivery Far East, at USD 17,000 daily and USD 400,000 ballast bonus. – On smaller sizes, San Juan Navigation has fixed M/V «Glen Mooar,» 46,570 dwt, built 1998, delivery Canada end July, for 3-5 months’ trading at USD 15,000 daily and USD 250,000 ballast bonus.
