Shipping Report

TANKERS The Mediterranean market has more cargoes, mainly out of the Black Sea. – Cross Aframax rates are at W/S 115, while those out of the Black Sea are at W/S 120. – North Sea steady, with the 100,000-ton cargoes out of the Baltic Sea at W/S 105, while CSSA, for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading August 12 UK, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Sonangol Kizomba» at W/S 102.5. – In Caribs, Conoco, for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading July 29 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Olympic Serenity» at W/S 168.75, while Stusco, for same cargo, loading July 31, with same destination, has fixed M/T «Sanko Dynasty» at W/S 145. – Suezmaxes in the Mediterranean are at around W/S 120 for cargoes out of the Black Sea, while in West Africa, due to fresh inquiry, rates have moved upward to W/S 120-125 for 130,000-ton cargoes with destination USAC. – VLCCs out of the same area are at W/S 85 and W/S 72.5 for west and east destinations. – Out of Arabian Gulf, Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Apollonia» for 280,000 tons of cargo, loading August 18, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 85. – On Aframaxes in the Mediterranean, Vitol has fixed M/T «Genmar Alexandra» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading August 7 Black Sea, discharging Mediterranean, at W/S 105. – In the Cont., Litasco, for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading August 11, discharging US Gulf – Atlantic, has fixed M/T «Stavanger Bay» at W/S 150. DRY CARGO Capesize rates are continuing to fall, with their index now almost 70 percent down from their highest point. – Round-trip voyage rates for BCI types in the East are slipping to around USD 21,500 daily and the next fixture’s rate is expected to drop further. – On the traditional coal route Richards Bay / Rotterdam and for the second half of August, loading cargo of 150,000 tons was fixed at USD 9.25 per ton. – On Panamaxes, another quiet day with very little trading in both areas. – In the Atlantic, there are fewer early ships but this remains immaterial as there are no cargoes around. – NCS has fixed M/V «Red Rose,» 76,629 dwt, built 2003, delivery Argentina, redelivery China, at USD 17,350 daily and USD 430,000 ballast bonus. – In Far East, Cosco has fixed M/V «Ikan Belanak,» 75,776 dwt, built 2005, delivery end July China, trip via Australia, at USD 10,750 daily. – On smaller sizes, M/V «Star Polaris,» 43,775 dwt, built 1996, delivery US Gulf / Caribs beg. August, redelivery WC UK, was fixed at USD 17,500 daily.
